Chicago Police Department Public Safety Workshop

  • Copernicus Center 5216 W Lawrence Ave Chicago, IL, 60630 United States (map)

The Chicago Police 16th District Community Policing Office and the Copernicus Foundation invites you to a Public Safety workshop, presented by the 24th District Place of Worship Safety Advisory Team (POWSAT). The POWSAT Officers will be conducting an Active Threat/Situational Awareness Public Safety Presentation.

This presentation will cover the importance of recognizing the characteristics of subjects who appear suspicious, how to identify suspicious activity, and ways to identify, address and respond to active threats.  POWSAT will also discuss what to expect when police arrive on the scene of an active threat situation.

The goal of this Public Safety presentation is educating the public so they can take-action and become more situationally aware of their surroundings at all times, especially while in public places.  This will make the city a safer place and we urge community members to be vigilant and CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY if something is suspicious in nature.

The Copernicus Center has generously donated the use of their space and is conveniently located just off the expressway, and a short walk from the Jefferson Park Transit Center.  Limited free parking is available in the Copernicus parking lot.

For more information, please contact the 16th District Community Policing Office at 312-742-4521 or Caps.016district@chicagopolice.org
